Our Own Rock Band Experience
I thought being in a rock band was easy until I joined one. Since I was a child I have always loved soft music and tunes that compose nice music. I grew up in Utah, USA and my grandfather was a musician who was so famous in our town. Most people loved his music and I remember there was sometimes when his fans came all the way from Texas, just to attend his music concerts in Salt lake city. As I grew up, I spent most of my leisure time with my grandfather. He taught me how to compose nice music.
Even though I didn’t have a good voice
Nonetheless, I started practicing singing hymns at the age of 7. By the time I was 11, I had already mastered a good voice. Since my parents were native Americans, I found myself mostly listening to pop and rock music. My father loved all songs by Michael Jackson. We often listened to them late in the evening after I come back from school. As soon as I finished my 12th grade, I had started to sing in events, my relatives weddings, church as well as my friends parties.
One day, when I was visiting my uncle who lived in the other side of our town, I came across a young small boy who was singing and playing a guitar at a grocery store. Therefore, I greeted him with respect and he smiled back to me. He told me that his name was “Tod”. Then I interacted with him for some few minutes and from there we became good friends. During the weekends, I went to visit him and we would sing an old song together. After like 4 months Tod became a rely nice friend; since we had a common interest with music, we decided to form a soft rock music band that we named “Cradle of Filth”.
We had done very little research about the rock band name
However, we knew there was another UK rock band with a similar rock band name like ours. Then we decided to name our brand Cradle of Filth because we sang songs that talked too much about religions, happiness, fear and success. As soon as we stated recording songs with Tod, we felt that we needed more people in our rock band to help us play other instruments; such as piano, drum sets and bass kits. Tod knew some few friends that could join our rock band. I asked Tod whether he would approach them and encourage them to join our rock band. He agreed to talk to them after some time.
After proposing to some of the instrument players to join our rock band, we grew our rock band to a team of four members. We added John, Joel and Ken to our rock band and after some time, we were able to record nice songs that were well received by our fans. In a span of more than 4 months; our rock band became popular and we started organizing concerts in Utah. We did our first concert in Salt Lake City, at an old ground called “The State Room” grounds.
Nevertheless, a lot of people turned out. This encouraged us to keep producing more songs. When I reached 24 years, our music started getting popular in other states; such as Ohio, Texas, Nevada, Arizona and Idaho.
As our music popularity grew, we started becoming more generic to soft rock music and pop
Tod wrote lyrics that had a sensible meaning and this helped us to record songs that easily gained popularity after we released them. By the time I was getting to 27, we had recorded several albums and I felt that I had achieve a lot of success with our rock band. Playing musing helped me to learn more about life as well as how to appreciate different cultures. As we traveled to different parts in the US to perform concerts, I enjoyed myself a lot. We had a lot of fun with our fans.
Music helped me to become more social with people and overcome my fear of facing a huge crowd. When I was little boy, I couldn’t face or talk to a big crowd of people. I felt a little bit shy to speak in a crowd and this made me struggle a lot when performing my songs. Joining a music band helped me to conquer my fear; since we performed our music as a group and not as an individual as I was used to. Up to now, a lot of years have passed. I still enjoy being part of our rock band.
